#CMGRHangout presents: Protecting Your Community Career

In a recent CMX thread (https://www.facebook.com/groups/cmxhub/permalink/1052259994797569/), +Katherine Mancuso brought up the open source community’s outrage over O’Reilly’s Community Managers Josh Simmons and Jason Yee being laid off in the middle of O’Reilly’s annual conference. This event brings up significant questions for community professionals, like how we best support other community professionals who lose their jobs suddenly due to no fault of their own, best practices for letting go a community team member and what you can do proactively to be ready if you find yourself in Josh and Jason’s shoes. Thanks to Stuart Bankey for suggesting today’s topic based on Katherine’s CMX conversation.

Join us for this week’s #CMGRHangout panel on Friday, March 25th at 2pm ET/11am PT to discuss what we can do to better protect our careers as community professionals and support others in our industry.

+Jonathan Brewer and +Sherrie Rohde will be hosting the hangout with +Stuart B and +Josh Simmons on panel. +Christin Kardos and +Carrie Keenan will be moderating the Twitter chat using #CMGRHangout .
