As community professionals, we learn how to connect with almost everyone we meet, but it isn’t always easy. From topics that aren’t core to who you are, to cultural differences, to generational gaps, we are constantly on our toes and looking for common ground. The good news is, as we work on this core skill of connecting, it becomes so natural we instead need to remind ourselves not to relate to every story our friends and family are trying to tell us when “off duty.”
